Since its inception in 1976, TIFF has gradually come to be regarded as the official dividing line between the loud, silly movies of summer, and the quiet, thoughtful movies that dominate the fall awards season.  Here are the 25 best movies that played at TIFF, then went onto to become major contenders in the fall Oscar race.

OK. So what's the connection to TIFF again?
Ear Relevant
Ummm...So please help me understand the significance of TIFF as it relates to these movies. OK these great movies all played at TIFF. But they also all played at the Cinema 4 in Flin Flon Manitoba...and the Super 8 Moviplex in Dartmouth NS...and hundreds of other theatres in Canada. I mean I'm glad Toronto has a film festival they can talk up (even if it;s not one of the "Big Three") But does it really matter to anyone else? Are they trying to claim that TIFF is somehow responsible for the success of these great films? Is this naval gazing?? Are we so desperate for attention that we'll do anything to link ourself to great films as if we had anything to do with them?

Dude. You seriously have some anger management problems...or maybe some Napoleon complex issues you need to resolve. "Ear Relevant" doesn't need to ridicule TIFF; you're doing a pretty good job of it. Or to put it at your literary level..."your idiott yuo scound dumb like you are stupid no branes werk. TIfF is awsumest no make it ridicul. TiFF is werld best".

Ridiculous
Random Jabroni
It's funny how people always have to debate silly stuff on the internet. Who really cares whether the TIFF is great or not, and why does everyone on the internet today have to start "ear reverant" posts with "ummm..."? When you say "ummm" it sounds like your brain is starved for oxygen.

However, the main reason for this post is as follows: if you plan to debate against someone, at least learn to speak an intelligible language first. I don't care which language you choose, as long as you can speak it properly. And if you CAN speak a language, please learn to spell! Check your spelling before you press the "post" button, or you will look like an idiot. "Starfed" and "nolt," for example, are not real words.

Nice parody, Mostly Passive, though "Dude" isn't a sentence. Grammar is also important, people! Finally, before anyone comments, no, I don't have anything better to do than critique spelling and grammar on the "net."

Tiff
non dico verum
Tiff is the only reason these movies succeeded. It had nothing to do with the scripts or actors. It was only because TIFF promoted it.

I'm going to assume you were being facetious. Claiming or even implying that TIFF has any thing to do with these movies success because they showed at TIFF is ridiculous.

Because if it ain't ridiculous then I'm gonna claim I am responsible for Team Canada's Olympic hockey gold because I watched it in a movie theatre.

Does Vancouver claim or even imply credit for Canada's best ever Olympic medal haul bacause the olympics were there?? No because that would be daft. I mean what kind of insecure, desperate Canadian city would try to imply some credit for some other people's success just because those people happened to visit their city? Oops wait...dumb question we know which city would do that.
