TIFF may be a world class festival attracting the best filmmakers on the planet but its Canadian roots are very much in evidence judging by the wide assortment of homegrown feature films, shorts and docs scheduled for this year's event. And Canadian films mean Canadian talent - on screen, on the red carpet and, if you're lucky, tossing back cocktails at the swanky bar you happen to be hanging out at. I was born on the east coast, and have used the phrase "just give'r" since I was a teenager. Obviously I picked it up from others, and let me tell you, that much earlier than 8 years ago.

I agree gwillem. The lads 'round the Ottawa Valley have been saying the same thing. The movie just put the phrase into a continental girth, introducing it to the urbanites and the city folk! LOL.
It makes me cringe, though, every time I hear that phrase...
